This overview explains how a conceptual explanation differs from a retained experimental result.
A correct-looking animation cannot establish elapsed time or a performance gain.
Suppose a door opens only for a valid pass while access is enabled.
Let A encode the pass and B encode enabled access.
These are two separate requirements.
We are choosing a small teaching rule so that every possible input can be checked.
At zero zero neither condition holds.
At zero one the pass is missing.
At one zero access is disabled.
All three cases deny entry.
At one one both conditions hold, so the answer is one.
Combining the factors A and B by and reconstructs exactly these four answers.
The four matches establish this two-input Boolean identity.
The drawing itself has not measured a compiler, a machine, or a request.
Exact agreement is an answer about behavior.
A speed claim needs additional evidence about an execution.
A drawing can explain a proposal without recording an experiment.
For example, split A AND B into the factors A and B.
An exact check confirms their conjunction for all 4 inputs.
That establishes the displayed Boolean identity.
It does not establish how long a program takes to find or use it.
A retained measurement needs input identities, a procedure, a timed boundary, measured results, and uncertainty.
A stopwatch illustration supplies none of those records.
Exactness describes the answer.
Promotion describes a decision under a performance gate.
A mathematically correct result may still be slower or remain unpromoted.
Work a second complete case with A 1, B 0.
Keep this assignment fixed throughout the calculation.
Each symbol retains the meaning already introduced; a new value does not
create a new logical rule.
The valid pass contributes one, but enabled access contributes zero.
Combining them with and gives zero.
Reconstructing from the two separate factors gives the same zero.
The failed access condition has not been removed by drawing the rule as two factors.
This case establishes a specific contrast.
Reconstruction preserves this denial.
Exactness is distinct from speed.
Keep the input, intermediate values, and conclusion together when comparing
it with the previous case.
The calculated answer belongs to this complete assignment under the stated rule.
Imagine a run record for the same door rule.
Label the source version and require all four output bits in a declared order.
Mark whether the timer includes preparation, execution, and output delivery.
This is a fictional record that demonstrates what must be recorded, not a new result.
Use abstract cost units.
The candidate spends eight units preparing and one executing.
The control spends two preparing and two executing.
The candidate has the cheaper execution step, but that alone does not
settle the complete request.
Nine is greater than four.
Both methods may produce exactly the right vector while the
candidate loses this complete-request comparison.
Repeated readings, declared uncertainty, and a performance gate belong
in the real experiment.
Correctness and promotion therefore remain separate decisions.
Check the mathematical claim independently.
Use recorded measurements to support performance claims.
