Privacy Notice

This working notice describes B-Theory’s personal research website and its planned newsletter and analytics features. Brian Theory is the operator, and GreenGeeks provides hosting and email. Newsletter signup and analytics are not active. Provider retention settings and processing locations still need verification before this notice is finalized.

Who operates this site

B-Theory is a personal research website operated by Brian Theory. It publishes research information, project descriptions, and manuscript reading copies. For privacy questions, contact Brian at Brian@B-Theory.com.

Information processed when you use the site

The site provides public pages and downloadable research files. It has no visitor accounts, comments, newsletter sign-up, contact form, shop, or payment processing. B-Theory does not currently maintain a newsletter list or visitor database. The site code does not set or use cookies or similar browser storage, and no analytics or advertising tracker is active. Hosting-level cookies and logs still need verification.

GreenGeeks provides website hosting. When your browser requests a page or file, it may process technical connection information to deliver, troubleshoot, and protect the site. This can include your IP address, request time, requested page or file, browser and device details, and referring page. The applicable log-retention and backup periods and processing locations have not yet been verified.

GreenGeeks also provides email. If you email Brian, your email address, message, and any details or files you choose to send are processed so your enquiry can be received and answered. The website does not store those messages in a visitor database. Mailbox copies and provider backups may retain messages; their settings still need verification. Please avoid sending sensitive or confidential information unless it is needed for your request.

How information is used and shared

Email enquiries are used to respond to the request and manage related correspondence. GreenGeeks processes hosting and email information to provide those services. Any additional security or infrastructure providers and applicable processing locations must be confirmed before this notice is finalized. External websites linked from B-Theory have their own privacy practices.

Planned newsletter signup

B-Theory does not currently run a newsletter or collect email addresses through the site. The planned newsletter will send occasional B-Theory research and project updates, such as significant milestones, to people who choose to subscribe. Signup information will be limited to the email address and the subscription and consent records needed to administer the list. Addresses will not be sold or used for unrelated advertising.

The planned signup system uses Neon to store subscription records and Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent automated abuse. Turnstile may process technical browser or device information and an IP address for verification. These services are not active on B-Theory. The newsletter sending service has not yet been established; its role, retention, and relevant processing locations will be disclosed before signup is enabled.

Planned analytics and cookie choices

Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and CookieScript are planned future services and are not currently installed or used on B-Theory. Google Analytics would help understand page views, usage events, and browser or device information. It may use cookies or similar identifiers. Google Tag Manager would manage analytics tags, and CookieScript would manage consent choices.

Before activation, B-Theory will verify the actual tags, data collected, consent behavior, retention settings, and any international transfers, and update this notice. Where required by applicable law, non-essential analytics will remain disabled until consent is given. Visitors will be able to revise their choices through the cookie settings control once that feature is introduced.

Retention and security

B-Theory retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice, including answering enquiries, managing subscriptions and communications, maintaining necessary records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. The period depends on the information, the purpose, and applicable legal requirements. This is a retention policy based on purpose; it does not specify a fixed number of days or months.

No newsletter list or visitor database is currently maintained. When a newsletter is introduced, active subscription records will be kept while needed to provide the requested updates. Subscribers will be able to unsubscribe through a link in each newsletter. Their addresses will be removed from the active mailing list, with only minimal suppression or consent records retained as necessary to honor their choices or meet legal obligations. If the newsletter ends, its active list will be deleted.

GreenGeeks mailbox, log, and backup retention and the future analytics retention setting have not yet been verified. Copies held by providers may follow separate service retention and backup schedules. Those schedules must be checked before exact periods can be stated. We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your privacy choices and requests

Privacy rights depend on where you live and which laws apply. They may include asking for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, objecting to or restricting certain processing, withdrawing consent where processing relies on consent, or complaining to a regulator. Applicable laws can also provide other rights.

For a privacy request, email Brian at Brian@B-Theory.com. Do not include identity documents or other sensitive details unless they are requested through a verified process.

Children

This research site is intended for a general audience and is not designed specifically for children under 13. The site has no account or submission feature in this draft. If you believe a child has sent personal information to B-Theory by email, contact the privacy address above so the matter can be reviewed.

Changes and effective date

This working notice has no effective date. Before publication, B-Theory will verify applicable provider processing locations, hosting-level cookies, logs, backups, and retention, and any additional contact details required by applicable law. Before adding a newsletter or analytics, B-Theory will configure the actual services, make the signup and privacy choices clear, and update this notice. The published notice will show its effective or last-updated date and be revised whenever the site’s actual practices materially change.
